1. Download and install the Steam client.
2. Create a Steam account.
3. Purchase Counter-Strike: Source through Steam. It will be downloaded to your system.

Place this file in your Counter-Strike cfg folder. This will be something like: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\XXXX\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg where XXXX is your Steam username.

Sprays must be in TGA format, and must have a size of 32×32, 64×64, 128×128 or 256×256, and must be 32 bits/pixel.

Save your custom spray somewhere, ideally Valve/Steam/SteamApps/*PLAYER NAME*/counter-strike source/ as this is the default directory. Then, select your new spray within Counter-Strike Source, from the Options menu.

To set up a server follow the instructions here:

Once you have your server installed you need to configure it.

When your server is set up and running, you, as an administrator, can use rcon to administer it. See Rcon Commands.
