One million dollar psychic prize
Fed up with bogus psychics and story tellers, James Randi came up with the Million Dollar Challenge, which offers a US$1 million prize to anyone that can prove, under scientific scrutiny, evidence of supernatural or paranormal activity.
Currently, to win the money, a contestant needs to contact the foundation, agree upon a test protocol, pass a preliminary test in front of an independent panel, and if this is successful, repeat the test in front of Randi himself.
However, after being inundated with crazy people, the foundation is going to tighten the rules to only accept applications from participants that can demonstrate that they have a media profile (for example, having been mentioned in a local newspaper or book). They hope that this will free up resources to allow them to better target high profile psychics.
In the ten years that the competition has been running, no one has made it past the preliminary test. I wonder why…
