Richard Hammond injured in car crash

Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond was seriously injured during filming when he crashed a jet-powered car while trying to break the British land speed record. More at BBC News. Hopefully he’ll be alright. Thanks to Ryan for finding this.

Update 27 Sep 2006: came across an opinion article on the Belfast Telegraph entitled I wish Richard well, but he’s such a fool . It makes some good points.

Updated 28 Sep 2006: according to BBC News he is on his way to recovery and should be OK within about 6 months.

  1. While I may not agree with the opinion stated in the Belfast Telegraph, I will defend to the death their right to express it. We need more people like Richard Hammond, week in week out stepping up to the plate to provide top notch entertainment for over three hundred million people. All the best Richard, can’t wait to see you back behind the wheel chasing 400mph.
